SYNOPSIS BEAUTY

Many years ago in the Kingdom of Clementine, a baby girl was born to the King and Queen. The baby was their second daughter, a sister for Faith. The King and Queen were very kind, and brought peace to their Kingdom. To reward them for their good deeds a good fairy decided to make their newborn baby the most beautiful in the Kingdom. They named the child Beauty. As the years passed, Princess Beauty became more and more vain and wicked, whilst Faith her sister was kind and thoughtful. Everyone feared Beauty, and disliked her. Then one day the Fairy Godmother decided it was time for Beauty to change, and to be taught a lesson. Princess Faith was betrothed to the handsome Prince Michael of Marnet, whom she had not yet met. The Fairy Godmother decided to make Prince Michael blind, just long enough for him to fall in love with Princess Faith. For if he saw the radiance of Princess Beauty, he would surely fall in love with the wrong person. A grand ball at the palace was given to celebrate their engagement The night of the ball changed the destiny of Beauty forever. The Fairy Godmother first made Beauty invisible, but she was wicked and pulled the servants hair, and kicked them, which caused dreadful trouble. After much thought the Fairy Godmother decided to make Princess Beauty lose her identity, and be lost to the palace. The King offered a reward to anyone who had news of Beauty. Princess Faith and Prince Michael cannot marry until Beauty is found. Everyone searches for Beauty, but she is nowhere to be found. Meanwhile Beauty goes about the Kingdom trying to convince the peasants that she really is the Princess , but they laugh at her because she is shabby and unkept and nothing like the Princess. Nighttime falls, and the Princess finds herself in the woods. She is tired, alone and very frightened. She falls asleep and when dawn breaks is found by a poor peasant boy, out looking for wood for his fire. Andrew takes pity on Beauty and takes her to his home, where she meets his Brothers and Sisters. Andrew has no parents, but takes care of his family. They work very hard just to make ends meet. Beauty tries to convince Andrew and his family that she is really the Princess Beauty, but they don’t believe her. Barker, scribe to the Royals, calls at Andrew’s house to ask if he has seen the Princess Beauty. Andrew asks Barker that if he did find the Princess, how would he know that it was truly her, especially if she got messed up in some way? Barker tells Andrew that the real Princess has a birthmark on her ankle, which is the only imperfection she has. Andrew is still not convinced that Beauty is the Princess. Mary, Andrew’s Sister, offers to lend Beauty a dress and to help clean her up a bit. The dress helps, but Beauty still does not look like a Princess. Andrew tells Beauty that she must help with the chores, if she wants to stay with them. She tells Andrew that she does not do chores, because she is a Princess. After a big argument and disagreement Beauty compromises, and helps with the chores. The days go by and Beauty finds that she actually enjoys doing the chores and helping. Her attitude changes and she realizes that she was very bad before. During her stay with the she finds that she has fallen in love with Andrew. Then one day after working very hard, Beauty decides to take off her shoes because her feet ache so much. Andrew sees the birthmark and immediately realizes that she is the Princess after all. He knows that Beauty must return to the palace, although Beauty refuses to go back without Andrew, saying that she no longer wants to be a Princess if it means she cannot be with Andrew. The whole family decides to take Beauty back to her home. The King and Princess Faith are delighted to see Beauty. However the King will not allow Beauty to stay living as a peasant. Princess Faith begs her Father to give all their excess wealth to the peasants, and to stop calling them peasants. This was done in the hope that if Andrew were richer, the King might allow Beauty to marry Andrew. After some thought the King agrees, although he still does not want Princess Beauty to marry Andrew. Faith tells the King that soon she is to wed Michael, which would leave the King one less to help with Royal duties. She asks the King to consider making Andrew a Prince, for the happiness of Princess Beauty. The King agrees. Faith marries Michael, and Andrew marries Beauty. The people of the Kingdom of Clemetine were no longer called peasants, they paid no more taxes and all prosper and are happy.
